Americans' Hearts Go Out To Stranded Pets

People around the country have been glued to their TVs recently as National Guard troops and others slog their way through the receding flood waters of New Orleans finding and bringing to safety stranded pets left behind as their owners had to flee.

The animals have been flown out to shelters around the country. Here in the Bay Area of San Francisco some 150 dogs and cats (no "yard apes", though) have arrived and are being sent out to foster homes to await the moment when they can be reunited with their owners.
